Winter Clothes Drive 2020

Bangladesh Development Project organized the Winter Clothes Drive project in January 2020 after seeing the drastic drop in temperatures which killed over 50 people and affected thousands of lives. With this project, we planned to donate blankets, sweaters, jackets, sweatshirts, and cardigans to underprivileged communities in Bangladesh that were deeply affected by this weather. Due to how time-sensitive this issue was in Bangladesh, our team only had a few days to organize the project and collect donations. On the first day, with the help of our trusted liaisons and team of seven volunteers, we were able to distribute 200 sweaters, sweatshirts, and cardigans in the poverty-stricken communities of Green Road, Dhaka. On the second day, 150 blankets were given out in Sylhet. On the third day, we were able to distribute 100 sweaters, sweatshirts, and cardigans to 100 orphans in Mirpur, Dhaka. On the fourth day, 100 more sweaters, sweatshirts, and cardigans were handed out in Panthapath, Dhaka. Although Bangladesh Development Project originally planned to distribute clothes for only four days, we were able to distribute an addition of 100 more sweaters and cardigans in Shewrapara, Dhaka due to the support of our generous donors. In total and with just $765, we were able to distribute 500 sweaters and cardigans in Dhaka and 150 blankets in Sylhet. We were able to give warm clothes to elders in slums, children in orphanages, mothers, children in villages, and hundreds of poor families and laborers that did not have the means to buy warm clothes on their own.
